The Zeiss Ikon Mess Ikonta C 524/2 is a wonderful camera. While it does not have a coupled rangefinder, it does have a built-in rangefinder which is very accurate, and like the Super Ikonta's rangefinder, its rangefinder is separate from the viewfinder (allowing it to focus on a "spot" or detail in the subject). The viewfinder on the Mess Ikonta is more compact than the pop-up viewfinder on the Super Ikonta yet you can still see the whole frame without looking around - even wearing glasses
This particular Mess Ikonta is equipped with a coated F3.5 Tessar and a Synchro-Compur shutter, so optically and mechanically it is almost identical to the Super Ikonta 531/2 - except for the simpler rangefinder / viewfinder system.
To make up for the lack of a coupled rangefinder the Mess Ikonta has an accessory shoe. This is great for attaching a flash or accessory rangefinder such as the one shown here - which is for shooting close-ups.
The close-up lens and rangefinder (1341) shown here were also made by Zeiss, as was the Ikoblitz 6 flash. The close-up lens set came with three different lenses, and the reason the accessory rangefinder has a shoe on both its top and bottom is so you can flip it over for more or less parallax correction (depending upon which of the three close-up lenses you're using).
The Ikoblitz 6 flash still works and you can still find flash bulbs for it.
